The Interfaith Community of Environmentalist Youth (ICEY) completed an ambitious project with SIREN’s help to increase solar adoption in the Brian Park and Elm Heights neighborhoods. SIREN organized a group-buy program while ICEY members went door to door recruiting prospects. Starting with a base of 25 solar homes in less than a square mile, the Bloomington Neighborhood Solar Initiative added 29 more homes/~200 kilowatts. In addition, 12 more homes went solar that summer outside of the BNSI parameters but swept up in the momentum.
